U.S. cattle inventory up slightly

The U.S. inventory of cattle and calves on feed in feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more head totaled 11.7 million on June 1, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
This inventory was slightly above the June 1, 2020, total. It was also the second highest June 1 inventory since the series began in 1996.
Inventory in Iowa was down 3% compared to the June 1, 2020 count, coming in at 620,000 head in feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more. Iowa’s count was also 2% lower than the May...
