Mid-August Crop Progress by Crop Reporting District

According to the latest USDA/NASS Crop Progress and Condition Reports, Iowa’s corn crop conditions remained unchanged from last week with 75% in Good/Excellent condition. 73% of Iowa’s corn crop is now in the dough stage, and 22% has dented which is ahead of last year’s progress of 7% dented at this point. The South Central Crop Reporting District (CRD) has 47% dented, however the northern CRD’s all have less than 20% dented.
Iowa soybean conditions declined slightly this week and are currently 72% in Good/Excellent condition, 21% Fair, and 7% Poor/Very Poor. 96% of Iowa soybeans have bloomed and 89% are now setting pods.
Oats harvest is nearly complete with 93% harvested in Iowa, and all Crop Reporting Districts over 80% complete.
Third cutting of alfalfa is 65% complete in the Central CRD, but only 37% and 38% complete in the Northeast and South Central CRD’s, respectively.
