La Nina conditions may fade this spring

Statewide average precipitation during December in Iowa was slightly above normal, but there was some significant variability in amounts at individual locations around the state.
Yearly average precipitation for 2022 was 8.3 inches below normal for the state and was a little more than 10 inches below normal in the west-central, southwestern and southeastern crop districts.
The wettest crop district in the state was the northeast, with amounts still more than 4 inches below normal.
