June rainfall a record breaker in some areas

After below-normal statewide precipitation in May, a much wetter pattern returned to Iowa as the calendar changed to June.
Initially, heavier rains began early in June in mainly some western into southern areas, but heavier rainfall occurred over more of Iowa as the month progressed.
By late in the month, rainfall had exceeded 10 inches at many locations in northern into western Iowa, with some locations reporting more than one foot of rain and record June amounts.
Significant flooding occurred in many areas where these heavy rains fell, causing crop and property damage....
