Iowa offers grants to supply local food to schools

A new allocation of $500,000 in federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding is on its way to Iowa farmers and schools, Gov. Kim Reynolds announced last week.
Funding is available in the form of grants to help schools buy directly from local crop and livestock farmers.
Other grant funding is available to producers who need special equipment, such as a refrigerated truck or packaging equipment, to provide the food to schools.
