Ida County Farm Bureau members Ted and Dee Ann Paulsrud wanted to thank those in the farming community for giving generously to their now seven-year project to send beef sticks to Iowa troops serving overseas.
So the Paulsruds donated a one-of-a-kind U.S. flag to a fundraising auction earlier this month for the Iowa Cattlemen’s Foundation, an organization that supports scholarships and education for Iowa youth.
Technical Sgt. Brad Knobloch, who is currently stationed in Guam after serving at the Manas Transit Center in Krygyzstan, sent the Paulsruds the flag for the auction.
The 22nd Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron flew the flag over Afghanistan on Nov. 14. It arrived in the Paulsrud’s mailbox just 15 days later.
