Iowa family carries on livestock tradition with CSIF’s help

The Sterling family has been farming in the Hedrick and Farson area for nearly 150 years. And that farming tradition will continue as the family welcome back yet another generation with help from the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF).
With the coalition’s assistance, Farson Livestock LLC, made up of Jim and Joan Sterling and their son, Josh, and son-in-law, Andrew Vandehaar, are adding a set of hog barns to their farm. It’s a good way to bring back the next generation, Jim said.
"We’ve been in the livestock business forever — raising hogs and cattle. This will be a whole new part of it," he said.
Farson Livestock LLC will be hosting an open house on Monday, Nov. 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. ...
