Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been discovered in Iowa for the first time since May, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported last week.

The outbreak occured in a noncommercial backyard poultry flock in Dallas County.
