Growing season begins with wet soils

The climatological winter of 2019-20, comprising the months of December through February, averaged warmer and drier than normal for Iowa, ranking as the sixth warmest since 1895. Seasonal snowfall since last fall has averaged near to below normal in many areas.
The precipitation trend turned in March, which will go into the records books as a warmer and wetter than normal month for the state.
