Extreme heat keeps drought watch top of mind

Extreme heat has built into the central and northern Plains the past two weeks, but is anticipated to move southward as July approaches, according to Beth Hall, Indiana state climatologist, who presented this month’s North Central Climate and Drought Outlook June 16.
Pockets of heavy rainfall are predicted to be limited to thunderstorms in much of the Midwest this summer, much like occurred in central Iowa last week.
