Iowa’s cattle farmers are one step closer in voting whether or not they want to reinstate the state’s beef checkoff, industry officials said recently at a BeefMeet hosted in Atlantic.

In late 2015, all Iowa Cattle­men’s Association (ICA) producer members received a survey to gauge interest in a state checkoff initiative. More than 900 survey results were tabulated and showed that 80 percent supported reinstating the 50-cent state checkoff.
