Des Moines ‘city girl’ experiences farm, dispels myths

Most of my life, I didn’t know the first thing about agriculture. I’ve lived on the east side of Des Moines since I was 7 years old. I am not afraid to admit it: I’m a "city girl!" It’s no wonder my internship with the marketing and communications department at the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) has taught me more than what was written in any job description.
Understand, this city girl was required to watch "King Corn" for two different college courses at the University of Iowa and to read multiple books that disparage the treatment of livestock.
