Ten young farmers from Chickasaw County joined over 500 peers at the Young Farmers Conference held in Des Moines on Jan. 17-18. The conference provided a dynamic weekend of networking opportunities and skill-building sessions designed to empower the next generation of agricultural leaders. 

Attendees participated in workshops and discussions focused on enhancing farm operations, financial management, and leadership skills. The event encouraged the exchange of ideas and best practices among young farmers from across the state. 

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig addressed the group on Saturday morning, emphasizing the vital role of young farmers in shaping the future of agriculture. Keynote speakers Rick Rigsby and Jack Uldrich delivered powerful messages on personal growth, innovation, and adapting to change in the evolving agricultural industry. 

The Young Farmers Conference continues to be a cornerstone event for fostering growth and collaboration among Iowa’s agricultural community, ensuring a bright future for the state’s farming industry. Chickasaw County’s representation at the event reflects the commitment of local farmers to advancing agriculture and sustaining rural communities.
