Iowa Farm Bureau Rural Veterinarian Loan Repayment Incentive Program
The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) is committed to addressing the urgent need for veterinarians in rural Iowa, ensuring both quality animal healthcare and continued support for our hardworking farmers.To support this mission, IFBF will award up to $25,000 in loan repayment incentives to four individuals who practice veterinarian medicine in Iowa through its Iowa Farm Bureau Rural Veterinarian Loan Repayment Incentive Program. The loan incentive is payable over four years toward outstanding Federal Subsidized Stafford, Unsubsidized Stafford, and Graduate PLUS balances at the end of each 12-month employment period.
To qualify for the program, applicants must either be in their final year of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree program or have completed a DVM within the past five years, with a commitment to practicing in Iowa for four consecutive years.
Preference will be given to applicants who are large animal veterinarians and/or those in a veterinarian shortage area in Iowa as identified by the USDA; graduates from an Iowa high school, technical school, college, university and/or institution; and individuals with demonstrated leadership skills, community involvement and/or a commitment to rural Iowa.
Applicants who have participated in or received loan repayment awards through the National Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program or the Rural Iowa Veterinary Loan Repayment Program are not eligible.
