Weather patterns flip as planting begins in Iowa

The April temperature trend in Iowa was more variable than March, which ranked as the 30th coolest on record. Into late April, temperatures were averaging near to a few degrees above normal in most areas.
April precipitation varied widely. There were some locations in northern Iowa that received above normal amounts, while farther south some locations received less than 30% of the normal amount.
