Understanding Water Quality Issues for Rural Iowans
Wednesday, April 6 (12pm – 1pm)
Live Webinar
The Iowa Learning Farms (ILF) conservation webinar taking place April 6 at noon CDT will feature Gabriel E. Lade, assistant professor of economics, Macalester College. Lade studies public policy issues in the agricultural and energy sectors. His recent work has included studying water quality issues such as the market impact of the Flint, Michigan water crisis as well as groundwater quality in Iowa.
In the webinar, “The Iowa State Rural Drinking Water Survey: Results and Insights,” Lade will discuss the results from two rounds of the Iowa State Rural Drinking Water Survey conducted in 2021. Focusing on the behavior, perceptions and uses of water reported by users of private wells in Iowa, Lade will discuss how the survey of 8,200 households can help inform public education and outreach. He will also highlight preliminary results from a behavioral intervention effort to overcome well-testing reluctance.
