Farmers who planted cover crops last fall are eligible for a $5 per acre discount on their crop insurance premiums through a new program announced last week by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The program, called the Pandemic Cover Crop Program (PCCP), is modeled after a pilot program launched four years ago in Iowa and recently extended to Illinois and Indiana.
