Cattle and calves on feed for the slaughter market in the United States in feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more head totaled 12 million head on Nov. 1, according to the monthly Cattle on Feed report from USDA, published last week.

The inventory was 1% above year ago levels and is the highest Nov. 1 inventory since the series began in 1996.
