The Iowa Farm Bureau board of directors has approved the appointment of three couples to Iowa Farm Bureau’s Young Farmer Advisory Committee.
Devin and Meghan Brincks of Winneshiek County will represent District 1 in northeast Iowa, Bryan and Crystal Schroeder of Plymouth County will represent District 3 in northwest Iowa and Lucas and Bethany De Bruin of Mahaska County will represent District 8 in south central Iowa. The couples will officially join the committee at YFAC’s summer meeting in June and will serve three-year terms.
The Brincks family grows corn, soybeans and alfalfa. They also partner with family members on a swine farrow-to-finish operation and cattle feedlot. They began selling pork from their farm directly to consumers in 2020.
Devin currently serves as Winneshiek County Farm Bureau vice president. He worked as an NRCS soil conservation technician and had a drone spraying business before farming full time. Meghan is an elementary school teacher.
The Schroeders have a wean to finish hog farm, raise corn and soybeans, and operate a custom manure application business. Brent serves on the Plymouth County Farm Bureau board of directors. Crystal works off the farm as a dental hygienist.
The De Bruins raise corn, soybeans, rye and bison on their family’s Century Farm. They sell bison meat directly to consumers and are active with conservation partnerships and research trials. Lucas is a research agronomist with the Iowa Soybean Association in southeast and east central Iowa and has been a member of the Mahaska County Farm Bureau board of directors since 2018. Bethany is a full time caregiver to their children and formerly worked as a livestock nutrition feed specialist.
