Companion property tax reform bills have been introduced in the Iowa House and Senate that propose transformational change to the state's property tax system. 

Farm Bureau policy includes many provisions regarding property tax growth and reform. 

Initial Farm Bureau analysis shows this property tax plan would result in a significant property tax reduction on agricultural land across the state, and Farm Bureau policy is supportive of many provisions in the bill. 

The bill (House Study Bill 313/Senate Study Bill 1208) also contains a concerning provision that would change the tax treatment for new agricultural buildings and grain facilities, resulting in a higher property tax bill for buildings built after Jan. 1, 2026, compared to similar buildings...
