Poor economics helps reduce crop acres

If nothing else, the reduction in the intended acreage devoted to all crops in nearly every major state, as indicated by last week’s USDA Prospective Plantings report, illustrates the impact poor economics are having on production agriculture. And with the exception of Arkansas and North Dakota, the increases were very small in the states that did have expanded plantings.
