Farmers interested in strengthening their crop marketing skills can enroll in a new, on-line course developed by Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) and Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach.

The course, which opened Nov. 10, is designed to help farmers and others build crop marketing skills at their own pace and anywhere with an internet connection. The class will use video presentations, activities and quizzes provided by experts at both ISU Extension and the IFBF to promote interactive learning. During the course, participants will explore several topics, including price movements, contracts, basis, options and creating a successful marketing plan.

The course is self-paced. Participants, on average, will complete the content in four weeks after registration. The deadline for completion is March 15, 2019.

The course fee is $200. A $50 scholarship will be offered to 50 Farm Bureau farmer members upon successful completion of the course. Completion certificates should be sent to Ed Kordick, commodity services manager, at ekordick@ifbf.org.
