Iowa State University has published new guidance on measuring soil organic carbon which describes what soil organic carbon is and the crucial roles it plays in agriculture related to crop productivity, soil health, water movement, and soil and water quality improvements. The guide also provides information on the differences between traditional soil fertility sampling and soil sampling done for farmers participating in carbon markets.
