The Pro Farmer Crop Tour last week found a mixed bag in Iowa corn and soybean fields, with one participant saying Iowa’s corn crop is the patchiest he’s seen in 17 years.

Iowa’s corn crop showed significant variability due to inadequate moisture and heat stress. The statewide average yield estimate for corn was pegged at 182.8 bushels per acre, down 1 bushel from last year’s harvest.
