Iowa cattle inventory down 5%

Monthly cattle inventory estimates were flat compared to May’s count, but lower than June 1, 2021.

According to the monthly Cattle on Feed report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Iowa’s cattle inventory was unchanged month-over-month at 590 million head in feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more.

However, the June 1 inventory was down 5% compared to June 1, 2021.
