Ag equipment maker layoffs mount

John Deere and Bridgestone announced layoffs last week in response to weak sales.

A new round of layoffs is hitting John Deere workers, including 241 in Waterloo, 120 in East Moline, 58 in Urbandale and 16 in Ankeny. This comes on the heels of at least 650 jobs cut at John Deere’s plants in Iowa earlier this year. Additional layoffs are expected in the third quarter (July-September) 2024.
