Legislature keeps up momentum in conservation, ag research

The Iowa Legislature made significant strides during the 2014 session to maintain the momentum for the state’s groundbreaking soil conservation and water quality programs, extend protection for property taxpayers and increase investment for agricultural research and development, according to Craig Hill, president of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF).
"We’re especially pleased that Iowa lawmakers see the value of supporting and funding Iowa’s water quality initiative and conservation cost-share programs," Hill said. "Measures approved this year will bring real progress as lawmakers moved to more than double the historic funding levels for soil conservation and water quality programs."
