The trend of wide variability in temperatures has been a prominent feature in Iowa’s weather since late last year.
A colder than normal trend gripped the state early in February, and through nearly the mid-point of the month temperatures were averaging from 8 to 13 degrees below normal in most areas.
A more variable temperature pattern brought some warmer days to Iowa later in the month, but through the first three weeks of February, average temperatures were still running from 3 to 9 degrees below normal.
