“I’d say about 70% of the silage chopping is done and some guys are ready to start on earlage,” Peelen said Sept. 3. The corn is drying down quickly because of the heat and lack of rain and will be ready to harvest soon, he said. Soybeans are also maturing quickly, Peelen said. Farmers are having crop adjusters look at their crops to assess drought damage, he added.
