Corn planting is 90% to 95% complete in the area, Kooiker estimated May 6. “Bean planting could be approaching half done,” he added. Most farmers are caught up on spraying. Kooiker received a couple small showers totaling about one-half inch, but the rain was very spotty. “I would say we’ve got decent soil moisture for getting a crop going but there’s not much in the subsoil,” he said.
