“I can say with confidence that we’re zero percent planted. We still have snow in the ditches, and yards aren’t even firmed up yet,” Vander Velde said April 12. Last week’s forecast was calling for another 3 to 5 inches of snow over the weekend. “It could be an interesting spring,” said Vander Velde, who grows corn, soybeans and hay. “I think last year we were planting by now.”
