Dreith said yields were reduced by about 40 percent on some hail-damaged corn that he combined last week. “We had to get that out of there. It was falling over pretty bad,” he said Sept. 27. He had about one-half inch of rain last week, but some fields were still muddy after more than 5 inches of rain the previous week. Most farmers in the area were working on corn since soybeans weren’t quite ready.
