Farm Strong® partnership will provide thousands of meals to Iowans struggling with hunger

Iowa Farm Bureau Federation’s (IFBF) Farm Strong® initiative, a partnership with Iowa State University (ISU) Athletics, will help kickoff the Matt Campbell-era by presenting the Iowa Food Bank Association with a $10,000 donation at halftime of ISU’s 2016 Cyclone Gridiron Club Spring Game on Saturday, April 16 at Jack Trice Stadium.

Coach Matt Campbell’s new-look Cyclones take the field at 1 p.m. Saturday, and included in the game day festivities is the donation benefiting Iowa families struggling with hunger.  The Farm Strong® initiative connects consumers to the hard working men and women who grow and raise their food, fuel and fiber today, sharing the story of today’s farm families, while recognizing exceptional ISU student-athletes who embody the character and work ethic of the Iowa farmer, both on and off the field.

“This donation from the Farm Strong® initiative will have a tremendous impact for Iowa families dealing with hunger,” said Cory Berkenes, director of the Iowa Food Bank Association.  “The $10,000 donation will provide 40,000 meals for children and families across the state.”

The collaboration between IFBF and ISU Athletics benefits the Iowa Food Bank Association through proceeds from the sale of Cyclone-themed Farm Strong® merchandise and apparel.  Fans who would like to support the Farm Strong® initiative and purchase merchandise can visit Cy’s Locker Room on game day from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on the north side of the stadium in front of the Jacobson Building.
