Fall manure application offers fertilizer savings

Ahead of last week’s rains across Iowa, many farmers started applying fall manure, an annual practice that helps farmers capture value from animal waste, while adding valuable fertilizer and organic matter to row crop acres.
Dan Andersen of Iowa State University’s Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering said it’s important that farmers know the composition of the manure, know field conditions and check their equipment.
