Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst last week called on President Donald Trump to lift steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada and Mexico in order to expedite passage of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

“We need to reinforce to the administration, we want this deal to be done, so let’s go ahead and remove these tariffs,” Ernst said during a trade roundtable at Kinze Manufacturing in Williamsburg. “If there is a deal in place and the USMCA is essentially done, then the tariffs need to be lifted.”
