“Area farmers are itching to get in the fields, but cool soil temperatures will push planting out a few weeks. “I haven’t seen a ton of activity yet...maybe a couple guys here and there getting some tillage done,” Fisch said April 10. “A little bit of fertilizer.” A couple inches of rain has helped replenish thirsty soils.
