Cattle inventory growing in Iowa, U.S.

The cattle industry saw a 2 percent increase in its cattle inventory since Nov. 1, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported last week in its cattle on feed report.
There were 10.9 million head of cattle and calves on feed in U.S. feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 or more head as of Dec. 1, the USDA said.
This U.S. inventory was 1 percent above the Dec. 1, 2013, inventory, the USDA said. There were 610,000 cattle and calves on feed in Iowa feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 or more head as of Dec. 1, the USDA said. This was unchanged from Dec. 1, 2013.
