Update from Argentina as planting begins

Last week, we gave an update on what was happening in Brazil as the South American country prepares to start planting its 2024-25 corn and soybean crops. This week, we’re going to do a similar dive on Argentina, which like Brazil, is also beginning to plant crops for the coming season.

While the two countries run on similar crop production schedules and see similar climate patterns, differences exist, in part, due to the geographic differences between growing areas in southern Argentina and growing areas in northern Brazil, which are thousands of miles away from each other.

However, more than 75% of Argentina’s corn and soybean production comes from the states of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe and Cordoba, which are in the northern half of the country and closer to Brazil.
