Marketers watching weather concerns
Now that the calendar has turned from May to June, we will start to see a shift in the market focus.
While planting is still taking place in some regions of the United States, mainly for soybeans, now is when we see more attention on weather for crop development. Conditions across the United States remain mixed with some regions near perfect while others are showing elevated stress.
The areas of the most concern are in the South and Plains, where drought conditions are reported. Unless these are remedied soon, we are likely to see the trade adjust yield estimates, especially on corn.
Weather isn't just an ongoing factor in the United States, but around the world. Closest to home is Canada, where the same wet conditions that slowed plantings...
