With the threat of tariffs in the headlines almost every day, farmers in the U.S. are wondering what the inclusion of Canada and Mexico in the dispute might mean for a whole host of economic situations, including fertilizer prices and availability.

Nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) are the three main macronutrients used in American agriculture. While the U.S. typically isn’t a large importer of either N or P fertilizers, it is a massive importer of K fertilizers, meaning any new tariffs are potentially very problematic.
