Biofuel leaders seek opportunities to boost usage

The past year was one of tremendous accomplishments for the biofuels industry, but much more work remains to be done, renewable fuel industry leaders said last week at the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit.
A key focus in the coming year will be ensuring biofuels have a role in federal efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, said Geoff Cooper, CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA).
“Job one for us is continuing to convey to policymakers that ethanol is a solution that is available here and now at a low cost that can significantly decarbonize transportation fuels,” he said.
Much of the Biden administration’s focus is on electric vehicles, Cooper acknowledged.
