Bayer's Grinnell site embraces automation

Advances in agricultural technology, such as the automation of seed processing, safety and quality control, are game changers at the Bayer Corn Production Facility in Grinnell.
Matt Moyer, plant production lead, said automation now plays a critical role in multiple facets of the operation, increasing overall efficiency. The 144-acre property produces approximately 2 million seed bags annually, 70% of which are for Bayer’s national DEKALB corn brand.
“From a safety and quality perspective, we’re able to ensure the equipment is operating as intended while ensuring safeguards and interlocks are in place for our employees and for our customers,” Moyer said.
