America’s biofuel industry, already under siege because of the sudden drop in fuel consumption during the COVID-19 crisis, absorbed more blows last week as industry leaders and lawmakers look for a financial lifeline.
Estimates say that one-half of the country’s ethanol production capacity is offline. ADM last week announced it had idled its big plant in Cedar Rapids, as well as one in Nebraska.
