2016 Planting Progress

According to the May 2 nd USDA/NASS Crop Progress report, Iowa has 57% of their corn crop planted, compared to the 5-year average of 28%. Additionally, 7% of corn in Iowa has emerged. Missouri leads the way with 89% of their corn crop planted. Planting progress in Illinois and Minnesota are very similar to Iowa at 66% and 59%.
Soybean planting progress in Iowa is 7% complete, slightly ahead of the 5-year average of 3% at this time. Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana have the greatest percentage of their soybeans planted at 46%, 32%, and 29%, respectively.
